Hazardous Waste Issues: An AF&PA Perspective, 1996 Environmental Conference Proceedings
Regulatory and legislative initiatives abound in Washington, DC, affecting hazardous and solid wastes generated by the forest products industry. During this time of decreased federal and state budgets, EPA is continuing to evaluate its RCRA program to determine what is regulated and in what manner those regulated materials are to be managed. At the same time, the Agency is being forced to address a number of issues under court-ordered deadlines and decisions. This panel discussion will provide an up-to-date review of the RCRA issues of major concern to the industry, including Land Disposal Restriction, the Hazardous Waste Identification Rule, Definition of Solid Waste, Industrial D Guidance, and other regulatory and on-regulatory initiatives and actions being undertaken by EPA. The panel will consist of the Chairman of the AF&PA Industrial Waste Committee, AF&PA’s staff person responsible for RCRA, and AF&PA’s RCRA counsel.
