ISO 14000-Labelling, LCA and Environmental Performance Evaluation (Panel Discussion), 1996 Environmental Conference Proceedings
The IS0 14000 Environmental Management System series of standards includes three which are still in very draft form: ecolabelling, life cycle assessment, and environmental performance evaluation. The subcommittees of the Technical Committee 207 (TC 207) responsible for developing these standards continue to meet to address the areas of difference among the various countries participating in the discussions. Labelling and Life Cycle Assessment are perhaps the most contentious issues being addresses by the Technical Committee. This panel will consist of experts representing the United States on the three subcommittees of TC 207 responsible for developing the standards. They will provide an update on the areas of consensus and areas where further work is needed to develop an international standard. They will also offer their thoughts on the progress of the subcommittees and whether international standardization can be achieved.
