Revising Florida's Best Management Practices-A Partnership Process, 1996 Environmental Conference Proceedings
In 1993, the Florida Division of Forestry completed the process of revising the state’s Silviculture Best Management Practices (BMP) Manual. The new BMPs address specific issues beyond traditional water quality-based objectives, and were developed by a Technical Advisory Committee that was specially appointed to represent a diversity of interests and responsibilities for natural resources in Florida. The unique composition of this 22-member committee included individuals from the forestry community as well as environmental organizations and regulatory agencies. This “partnership” process resulted in a high level of credibility and wide acceptance of the new BMP Manual, and forged a long term cooperative relationship among participants.
