Georgia-Pacific's Pollution Prevention Program, 1996 Environmental Conference Proceedings
Georgia-Pacific has practiced environmental stewardship activities for many years. Much of this is now called pollution prevention and is autonomous at the facility or the divisional level. To focus effort and priority, Georgia-Pacific instituted a corporate-wide program. This decision was also consistent with the company’s environmental commitment as stated in the Corporate Environmental Principles and Policy. The two goals of Georgia-Pacific’s program are: 1. To foster all proactive projects that reduce waste and add value; and, 2. Support environmental compliance by making pollution prevention a standard operating procedure. By using the proven methods of Commitment, Communication, Empowerment, Involvement, Measurement, and Recognition we expect to save -1% of our cost of manufacturing in 1995.
