Air Emission Database for Particleboard , Medium Density Fiberboard, Oriented Strandboard, and Softwood Plywood Mills, 1996 Environmental Conference Proceedings
A computer database containing air emission information for the wood products industry has been developed. The database contains data from 11 particleboard mills, 7 medium density fiberboard mills, 16 oriented strandboard mills, 13 softwood plywood mills, 2 hardboard mills and 2 lumber mills. Emission data are available from 4075 pollutant specific sample runs. Pollutant values are expressed as a concentration, a mass rate, and a production based rate. Pollutant values can be linked, through the database, to specific types of equipment and to specific operating or process conditions. Equipment and process information are available as received from the mills, therefore the amount of process information associated with a particular pollutant value is variable. The majority of pollutant measurements are for particulate matter, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, volatile organic compounds, and formaldehyde from wood dryers, presses and combustion units (boilers and fuel cells). A limited amount of data are available for other pollutants such as phenol and acetaldehyde and for smaller sources such as sanders and planers.
