Preliminary Results from the NCASI 1995 Wastewater and Solid Waste Survey, 1997 Environmental Conference Proceedings
One of NCASI’s important functions is gathering and analyzing data to document the industry’s environmental performance. One aspect of this performance relates to wastewater and solid waste generation and management. Information about these activities was last assembled in 1990 (reflecting 1988 practices) and published in NCASI Technical Bulletins Nos. 603 and 641. In the spring of 1996 NCASI solicited information reflective of 1995 practices via distribution of a detailed questionnaire to its membership. This paper is a preliminary review of results from the response to this latest solicitation. Response demographics relative to the entire industry are reviewed. Sludge and ash generation rates and management options are presented. Extrapolation and application of these rates to the industry as a whole are discussed.
