Formaldehyde, methanol and phenol are “hazardous air pollutants” (HAPS) emitted from dryers and presses at wood products mills, A simple water-based impinger sampling method has been developed and successfully field tested at four wood products sources that represent a variety of operating conditions. Field testing was conducted in accordance with EPA Method 301 validation procedures. This paper discusses the method, the validation procedures and the results of the field validation.
