State-of-the-art secondary effluent treatment systems have recently been installed at all Avenor Inc. operations. Oxygen activated sludge treatment has allowed the Thunder Bay and Gatineau facilities to improve their environmental performance by drastically improving the quality of the final mill effluent. System start-up and shut down, operational parameters for the OASES bio-reactor, in addition to operational problems encountered and their associated solutions at the two facilities have enabled these treatment systems to effectively treat their process wastewater.
