The Florida Pulp and Paper Association Environmental Affairs Inc. (FPPAEA) formed a Training Committee in 1995 to develop a generic environmental awareness training for pulp and paper manufacturing facilities. In conjunction with the University of Florida TREEO Center, the FPPAEA developed the Phase 1 environmental awareness program in 1996. The Phase 1 format allowed easy conversion to Computer-Based Training (CBT) format. The Training Committee worked with Abbottsfield in 1997 to develop the Phase 2 Environmental Awareness CBT project. The final version of the pulp and paper environmental awareness CBT was completed in December 1997. A Phase 3 Advanced Environmental Training CBT is planned for 1998.
