Georgia Pacific’s Woodland Division mill wanted to improve the efficiency of their Aeration Stabilization Basin(ASB) and Sedimentation Basin(SB). They also wanted to determine the sludge loading of the ASB. JPS Engineering and Design of JPS Industries was requested to perform an engineering study to satisfy these requirements. This study was part of a major improvement effort that replaced the outfall pipe and relocated the ASB discharge location. Additionally, the Sedimentation Basin was dredged to remove all sludge. Using the results of the field study and generating a computer model of both lagoons of the ASB, the desired results were provided and recommendations were made to improve the performance of the ASB.
