Longview Fibre Company operates an integrated pulp and paper mill at Longview, Washington. Established in 1927, the mill has been under effluent regulation since at least 1964. This paper outlines the changes made in mill operation in response to changing conditions in the marketplace and the regulatory arena. Historical information includes production and effluent treatment equipment installed, operating rates and effluent treatment data beginning in fiscal 1965 through fiscal 1997. Permit changes are documented along with operational improvements in response to those changes for production and effluent treatment systems. Production and effluent data are presented and discussed.
