Improvements in TRS Monitoring, 1998 Environmental Conference Proceedings

The measurement of Total Reduced Sulfur (TRS) compounds in the Pulp & Paper industry has been made for years using dilution-extractive techniques and ambient air analyzers. Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems for TRS compounds have typically been expensive to buy and very expensive to maintain. Advances in detector cell technology combined with a sampling system specifically designed to support these detectors result in a new TRS monitoring system with fewer components, improved performance and lower maintenance requirements. This paper describes this new system, applications for it and compares it to typical TRS CEMS.
