Offsetting EMS Training Costs Through Tax Credits or Grants, 2002 Environmental Conference Proceedings

Implementing and maintaining Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14000 and similar programs) requires substantial employee training and, sometimes, certification. Training tax credits or grants can provide financial assistance to companies pursuing EMS implementation to offset this cost. This paper discusses and provides examples of the circumstances in which these programs can be applied to EMS training. While state tax credit and grant programs vary from state to state, there are some program common themes. Qualification can be dependent upon their design. This paper discusses design elements and how to optimize chances of success when applying for these training incentives.
