Two Sided Formation on Multi Wire Formers and its Effect on Printability, 1990 International Printing & Graphic Arts Conference Proceedings
This paper presents photographic evidence of density differences in paper produced on 19 different types of Twin Wire and Top Wire formers operating in Canada today. It shows that great variations in formation are possible: between different types of formers, between formers of the same type, and between the two sides of the same former.
Photographs also show how these density differences can affect printability.
It is further shown that these variations can be greatly reduced by the correct selection of fabric designs for each position of the former.
