This investigation concerns the use of a low temperature plasma treating process as means of improving gravure printability of stamp paper. The results obtained in both laboratory and printing house has shown that the treatment could increase the solvent absorption rate of paper and apparently reduced the set-off in high speed printing. Meanwhile, the treatment greatly increased the ink receptivity of stamp paper in gravure and resulted in an increase of print density and perfect dot reproduction, especially in the light medium tones areas. The effect was demonstrated for both coated and uncoated stamp paper in commercial use.
