New PP Resins for Extrusion Coating - The Move to Better Economics and Performance, 2000 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings
Manfred Kirchberger--The application range of polypropylene (PP) has been further expanded by developing grades which are suitable for extrusion coating processing on standard extrusion coating equipment. Starting from the actual market situation and the previous problems of using PP in this process, modified polypropylene grades applicable for extrusion coating are described. The modification of processability by introducing high melt strength enables to extend a range of end use properties. Comparisons to and advantages over conventional polyethylene (PE) and polyethylene modified grades are presented as well as product examples. Examples of new technologies and applications, resulting in the ideal combination of material and processing technology, are described.
