Passive Noise Control of Disc Brake Systems, 1990 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings
An overview of the damping properties of viscoelastic materials as a function of their important environmental factors is presented. The roll these environmental factors play in selecting candidate damping materials for passive vibration control systems is reviewed. As a specific example, a case study is presented on how a silicone pressure sensitive adhesive (psa) was employed as the damping material for an automotive disc brake passive damping system to control brake noise.
