Flexography Today - Achieving Graphic Excellence, 1990 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings
Flexographic printing quality today is on a par with offset printing and can successfully compete with gravure for a multitude of the higher quality graphics markets. What has happened to a printing process that was once considered cheap and low quality that today is being sought with a renewed vigor due to the excellent print quality and economical use?
In today’s markets, where very often the package costs more than the product inside, purchasers of printed material are continually looking to cut their costs while maintaining (and hopefully improving) the finished product. The growth of small business in our free enterprise system has produced a need for high quality short run printing and long run jobs are increasingly becoming more competitive with the increasing number of printers who are capable of producing the product.
While other processes strive to keep pace rather than fall by the wayside like lithography, flexography will continue to open new markets in a cost-competitive, high-quality process. But to stay on the top of your field within a market that is growing so rapidly requires a true understanding of your market and the development of new technology that will open new markets.
