Degradable Concentrates for Polyolefins, 1990 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings

Degradation by definition is the ongoing process of degrading. We are either going to inhibit or accelerate this process, but it is certainly not a static process. Evidence indicates that polyolefins degrade without extraordinary efforts from industry. The effort to accelerate the rate of degradation and impose some degree of control is a current challenge. Mechanisms are available using a dual system which consists of a food grade starch and a combination of an unsaturation and a transition metal.
