Polyethylene for Low Temperatures Extrusion Coating Applications, 1990 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings
A new polyethylene has been developed. It can be extrusion coated at unusually cold extrudate temperatures. Under these conditions, it is capable of coating to very thin coating thicknesses and yet adhere extremely well to paper and certain polymeric substrates.
This new polyethylene can be used in biodegradable coatings as the matrix for heat sensitive edible starches. This new material should find use in certain other structures that also contain thermally-sensitive components.
