Metal Container Coatings, 1990 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings

This paper discusses the formulation technique in developing a water based coating for a metal container using a spray application process. A comparison is made between steel and aluminum substrates in terms of requirements for specific formulations. Details and critical issues effecting formulation are presented and discussed. The results show a good formulation not only needs a good polymer system but also good understanding of the container manufacturing process.
