Performance of Hot Melt Adhesives in Nonwoven Composite Construction, 1990 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings
Hot melt adhesives (HMA’s) are used worldwide for the construction of disposable products. Several different base polymers are available for this type of application, including ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers (EVA) atactic polyolefins (APO), and thermoplastic block Different copolymers (TBC). areas of the world utilize different base polymers in their operations due to variations in material availability, cost, local preference, or performance needs. In the United States, TBC’s have generally monopolized the diaper construction and elastic attachment marketplace for several years.
This paper will show data gathered from a construction process design when controlled fiberization using application (spray) as the application method. In addition, potential multipurpose adhesives will be subjected to a multistrand elastic attachment process design that will allow us to determine their potential for use as multipurpose diaper adhesives.
