Peel Adhesion of Tapes from Skin, 1990 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings
As part of a long range program of product improvement, new pressure sensitive adhesives with unique properties are being developed. Attempts are being made to develop adhesives which maintain their good wear performance, “adhesion-on”, but which are easier to remove causing less skin trauma, “adhesion-off”. By changing the molecular structure in a controlled fashion it should be possible to vary the mechanical properties at the higher shear rates without affecting “adhesion-on” at the very low shear rates. This hypothesis has been verified empirically, as tapes have been tested with identical wear “adhesion-on” performance and statistically significant differences in removal forces.
