The thermoforming process has been used for many years in packaging applications.
Simply described, thermoforming is a process of heating plastic sheet stock to it’s softening point and then forming it to shape in a mold by means of vacuum and pressure.
The process of thermoforming microwaveable containers is fundamentally the same and this paper will examine and describe the process parameters, materials and equipment requirements for production of both barrier and non-barrier microwaveable containers.
