Methods and Elements of a Laboratory Statistical Process Control Program, 1990 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings
Laboratory testing is integral to quality assurance for many manufacturers. With laboratory analysis data, incoming raw material, in-process product and finished goods product are characterized, capability studies and designed experiments are performed, and process control is developed and monitored. The effectiveness of these is dependent on the accuracy and precision of the laboratory data. To assure data quality, a laboratory process control system must be in place. This paper will explore a laboratory process control program, illustrate the tools used, and discuss their effectiveness. These tools include calibration and maintenance programs, control charts, standards, process improvement teams, designed experiments, equipment and test method evaluation, and statistical techniques.
