Advance Technology Flame Plasma Surface Treating Systems, 1993 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings
Joseph DiGiacomo
This paper describes a Flame Plasma Surface Treating System developed to alter the surface chemistry of a polyolefin surface. The system utilizes a proprietary air/gas ratio control scheme which compensates for changes in operating variables such as ambient temperature, humidity, gas composition, and altitude.
The boundary layer effect will be described and methods to minimize it will be presented, the specially developed ribbon burner will be discussed. Other Flame Plasma treatment parameters will be described and methods to maximize these parameters will be discussed.
System components logic and control
strategies will be presented.
