Coextrusion Flow Analysis, 1993 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings

Scott D. Pearson

A simplified computer model for nonisothermal, coextruded polymer flows is developed based on fundamental mechanical and heat transfer balances. The program uses orthogonal collocation on finite elements and can be run on commonPC spreadsheet software packages. Two examples of flow in a narrow channel are presented to demonstrate the utility of the model. The importance of interface location and thermodynamic properties on interfacial viscosity ratio for three idealized fluids is illustrated.
