Effect of Different Screen Plates on Main Rheological Parameters and Wall Pressure in a Slit Die Extruder, 1993 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings

Screen plates are commonly used to catch the unhomogenous fractions of polymers and also to stabilize the processing in extruders. The influence of screen plates in processing on flow behaviour and rheological parameters as well molecular differences of polymer is less examined.

The aim of this experimental test was to examine the influence of screen plates with different mesh sizes on main rheological properties in a slit die by determining the wall pressures in the fully developed region of the slit die.
