Adhesion in Extrusion Coating with Polypropylene, 1993 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings

Jurkka Kuusipalo, Antti Savolainen

The trials were done with the pilot-coextrusion coating line at the Institute of Paper Converting Technology (Tampere University of Technology, Finland).

This study concentrated on adhesion-related effects in extrusion coating of polypropylene. Two different kinds of PP-grades were used at these trials: homo- and copolymer. Paper, paperboard and folding box board were used as a substrate. The process variables were: screw speed, line speed and pretreatments (corona, preheating and flame). The adhesion was evaluated by the degree of the fiber tear and T-peel test (N/m).
