Amorphous polyolefins (APO) can be used to extend styrenic block copolymers in hot melt adhesive formulations. This paper describes a study of hot melt adhesive starting point formulations in which either Styrene-Isoprene-Styrene (S-I-S), Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene (S-B-S), or Styrene-Ethylene-Butylene- Styrene (S-EB-S) block copolymer is partially replaced, or extended, with APO from one of three copolymer families, at three concentrations. Resulting physical, adhesive, compatibility, rheological, and pressure sensitive properties are compared and discussed.
