What Happens When You Drool?, 1996 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings
In most commercial extrusion coating operations, extruders are slowed to “drool speed” when the line is down for short periods of time (for minor repairs, roll changes, setup changes, resin changes). In an effort to better understand possible effects on the performance of resins and coatings produced immediately following drool conditions, a laboratory study was conducted to compare two types of polyethylenes - a low density and a high density extrusion coating resin. Resulting hot tack, heat seal, molecular, and thermal mechanical properties are discussed.
