Effect of Coextrusion Blown Film Processing Variables on Peel Strength Performance, 1996 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings
Results of 3-layer blown film experiments show that peel strength to EVOH correlates with process time, a measure of how quickly the molten polymer is quenched after exiting the die. LLDPE-based adhesives give a substantial increase in peel strength performance with increasing process time. EVA-based adhesives show a quite different behavior. The effects appear to be related to changes in physical properties of the film and/or changes in residual stress.
