Design of Sinusoidal Barrier Mixing Element for Single Screw Extrusion, 1996 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings

In this paper, the flow field in a sinusoidal barrier mixing element for single screw extruder is numerically modeled. The effect of various design parameters on the flow rate in the extruder is studied. The effect of the viscosity, helix angle and several other design parameters on the flow field and mixing performance of this geometry is presented.
