New Family of Extrudable Lidding Sealant Resins, 1996 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings

A new generation of extrudable lidding sealant resins, based on modified ethylene vinyl acetate and modified ethylene methyl acrylate copolymers, provide peelable seals to a variety of substrates. These resins offer good temperature resistance and can withstand 90°C hot water pasteurization for up to 45 minutes. In addition to higher temperature resistance as compared to high vinyl acetate (VA) E/VA and high methyl acrylate (MA) E/MA coploymers, these resins are also much less tacky and easier to handle. These resins provide an attractive alternative to solvent based lacquer coatings.
