Disco Purging: A Technique, 1996 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings
A recognized waste in the converting industry is the time and product lost in transitioning from one material to another and/or in startup/shutdown. Resin changes may involve a “purge” compound, which is basically a contaminant. A technique has been used for many years which does not involve the introduction of a foreign material in making the transition. The technique is relatively simple and easy to test, and has been found effective in making most transitions.
