Novel Method for the Promotion of Polymer Adhesion to Aluminum Foil, 1997 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings
Good adhesion of polyethylene to aluminum foil can be difficult to obtain without the use of corona treatment or liquid primers. This is especially evident when a roll of laminated paper to aluminum foil is allowed to sit for a period of time prior to the extrusion coating operation. Mechanically altering the foil surface just prior to the coating nip section results in a substantial improvement in coating adhesion values.
