Unique New Co-Polyesters for Flexible Films and Coatings, 1997 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings
Polyesters are commonly used in packaging applications requiring good gas barrier, grease resistance, and/or elevated temperature resistance. They are also known for their excellent organoleptic properties, clarity, and stiffness. Now, a new family of co-polyesters with a very different set of properties has been developed. Softness, high moisture breathability, and biodegradability characterize these materials. This paper will compare the properties of two of these developmental materials - a biodegradable grade and a moisture-breathable grade - to those of two common types of polyethylenes.
