Antifog Additives for Extruded Film, 1997 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings

Antifog additives have been developed for linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) and flexible polyvinyl chloride (PVC) films. These systems provide improved antifog properties compared to current commercial systems. The additives for both polymer systems were evaluated for antifog properties under refrigerated conditions and for their effect on the color and consistency of mushrooms (mushroom sensitivity test). In addition, the antifog properties of the PVC film containing these additives were tested at room temperature and the optical and static decay properties of the films also were measured. Under these testing conditions, the films containing the new systems exhibited better antifog properties than the commercial systems. And in the case of PVC, this new system also provides superior antistatic characteristics.
