Modification of the Surface Properties of Polyethylene Plastomers by the Use of Additives (II), 1997 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings

Mono-layer films of a metallocene catalysed polyolefin plastomer (POP) were prepared containing erucamide slip agent at 2000 ppm and with various concentrations of inorganic anti-blocking agents. Coefficient of Friction and blocking tests were performed on these films and it was concluded that natural silica gave the best performance in combination with the slip agent. Subsequent evaluation of amide levels between 2000 - 6000 ppm in combination with natural silica at 1000 ppm show that viable films can be produced at low anti-block levels at the higher amide concentrations.
