Extrusion Coating vs. Film Lamination: How Affinity* Polyolefin Plastomers Will Offer More, 1997 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings

In recent years, AFFINITY polyolefin plastomers (POPS) produced using INSITE* technology have effectively replaced specialty polymers (e.g. ionomers, EVAs) in various sealant applications. The majority of these applications have involved blown or cast films, or an extrusion lamination of these films onto a substrate. Now with extrusion-coating AFFINITY POPS converters can eliminate the costly film lamination step. This paper will compare performance properties (heat seal, hot tack, puncture, and tear) of structures containing film lamination and extrusion-coating sealants.
