Novel Software System for Evaluating, Storing and Retrieving Polymer Property Data, 1997 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings

The design of machines and dies for polymer processing requires a quantitative description of the properties related to polymer melt flow. The melt flow can be adequately described, if the thermodynamic and rheological data of the resin are known. These can be obtained through measurement techniques that are already well established. Starting from measured viscosity of any resin the database software determines the coefficients occurring in the commonly used rheological models. These are then stored automatically in the resin data bank. The thermody-namic data is input into the databank directly on a dialogue basis. The software system can be linked to any existing design software to provide the required property data for design calculations.
