Flame, Corona, Ozone - Do We Need All Pre-Treatments in Extrusion Coating?, 1997 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings

A very extensive study involving flame and corona treatment of substrates and ozone treatment of coating resins was arried out. This paper will describe what pre-treatment combinations are needed when different papers or aluminum foil are the substrate and different coating polymers (LDPE, EMA or PP) are used. The main goal is to achieve good adhesion without organoleptic problems and to use coating technology in the most economical manner possible.
