Antistats, 1998 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings
Static electricity on the surface of a polymer film can cause the film to be unsuitable for use in electronics packaging, areas containing flammable atmospheres, or just attract dust making a product less attractive on the store shelf. Antistats are used to modify the static electric behavior of polymer surfaces. They function principally by attracting moisture to the surface of the polymer. This moisture layer reduces the electrical resistivity of the surface. The primer will cover the nature of static charges, mechanism of action of antistats, test methods, and test standards.
