Extrusion coating and laminating of specialty polymers has long been an effective means of imparting unique properties to a variety of substrates. Whether for toughness, sealability, preferred organoleptics, or aesthetics, the recent development of metallocene plastomers designed for extrusion coating and laminating offers the converting industry a new and powerful tool in the ongoing pursuit of the ultimate in packaging performance. This study takes a broad look at the L 4 Processability J Heat Seal 5 Hot Tack

a number of commercially available polymers including high VA EVA copolymers, an E-MA copolymer, a new EnBA copolymer and an ionomer. Physical properties, organoleptics and extrusion coating performance have all been considered in this report.
