Water-based printing on extensible plastic films, once a challenge to most experienced of printers, has today been successfully accomplished in many applications. While desired functions such as gloss, rub resistance, adhesion, consistency, etc. are still undergoing improvements, proper application of the liquid to the substrate can be accomplished with relative ease providing an understanding of the process is studied. This paper will examine those machine requirements that are necessary to achieve high quality water based printing results on plastic films.
