Roland Planeta--This paper will provide a general introduction into modified atmosphere packaging with a focus on employing styrene-butadiene copolymers (SBC). An explanation as to why one would choose this polymer over other materials such as oriented polypropylene and polyethylene will be given. This topic will be further reinforced by examining comparative data. Lastly some relevant technical issues surrounding SBC will be explored and possible solutions offered.
