New Family of Liquid Crystal Polymers Expands Applications in Barrier Packaging, 2001 Polymers Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings
David R. Constant--Ticona has introduced Vectran (TM) liquid crystal polymer, a new family of LCPs that, for the first time, gives packagers access to LCPs superior properties for large-scale food and medical packaging applications. This new family of LCPs has been specifically developed to be co-processable with conventional packaging resins and processes, including operations involving thermoforming. The properties, which include high oxygen and water vapor barrier, thermal and chemical resistance, make these LCPs well suited for multilayer films and rigid packaging for retort pouches, closures, trays and lids.
