Effect of Chemical Modification on the Rheological and Shrinkage Behavior of LLDPE, 2001 Polymers Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings

A. E. Silva, L. Cassinelli--A Linear Density Polyethylene chemically modified to introduce a controlled amount of long chain branches leading to improvements on the shear thinning behavior, making it possible to process on LDPE unmodified extrusion lines. This modification was intended to give the possibility of the use of LLDPE-rich blends for collation shrink film. Thereof, it was possible to take advantage of the known benefits of LLDPE over LDPE without having problems either with lack of shrinkage or melt strength.
