The Application of New and Improved Polymer Processing Additive (PPA) Technology in Polyethylene Film, 2003 PLACE Conference & GLOBAL HOT MELT Symposium

Polymer Processing Additive (PPA) technology has been used for several decades to improve the extrusion characteristics of polyethylene. In LLDPE and HDPE extrusion, PPAs are instrumental in eliminating melt fracture. Dyneon has developed new and improved PPA technology that allows polyethylene producers, compounders and end-users further performance improvements over current PPA technology. Data in the paper and presentation will show melt fracture elimination performance improvements in several key commercial resin systems. Performance benefits will also be demonstrated through data dealing with die build-up elimination and pressure reduction.
