New Winding Technology Boosts the Limits of Conventional Winding, 2003 Spring Technical Conference Proceedings

With both new and rebuilt paper machine speeds continuously increasing, winder suppliers are being challenged to develop new technologies that will address the production requirements of paper producers. In North America there has, and continues to be, a desire to maintain a one winder scenario. Todays winders must have the necessary tools to set new performance benchmarks.

This paper discusses the level of winding technology available today and introduces new features designed to address the increasing demands on winder performance.

The first section of this paper provides an update on multi-station winding for the most demanding winding applications. The second section will introduce radical improvements in two-drum and belt-bed winding for higher capacity, and improved runnability.
